XXVI Conference of Orientalists, 1964 - Stamp, First Day Cover

The twelfth rock edict of Ashoka mentions in Sanskrit --

समवाय एव साधुः

samavāya eva sādhuḥ

"Concord alone is correct and proper."

The 26th Conference of Orientalists was held on 4.1.1964 at New Delhi. The occasion was highlighted with an issue of a commemorative stamp, an FDC and a brochure. The stamp bears the above edict in Sanskrit on its left margin. Only the visarga is omitted.
