Sydenham
College is the first college of commerce in Asia. It was established in October
1913 and was named after the then Governor of Bombay, Lord Sydenham of Combe. On
the college's Diamond Jubilee celebrations on 19.04.1989 India Post issued a commemorative stamp in the denomination of 60P along with a First Day Cover and Brochure.The FDC shows the motto of the College in Sanskrit. 
The College's motto is "Labor Omnia Vincit" (Work conquers all) and it is sanskritized as --
समुद्योगो हि विश्वजित्
samudyogo
hi viśvajit
"Diligent efforts conquer the world"
