Eighth Triennale - India, 1994 - First Day Cover


  

TRIENNALE - INDIA : This event provides a forum to the people for a cultural interaction at an international level and also help to develop love for art and beauty. This event exhorts the people to explore the possibilities of aesthetic exchange of ideas and develop love for art and beauty. The Triennale-India was conceived by Dr. Mulk Raj Anand, the then Chairman of the Lalit Kala Akademi and was first organised in New Delhi in 1968 (Source: Lalit Kala Akademi).

8th Triennale-India was held in New Delhi. A commemorative stamp in the denominatin of 600P was released on 14.03.1994 the occasion along with a First Day Cover (FDC) and Brochure. The FDC incorporated the Sanskrit Nagari numeral "8" as highlighted. Though in modern times numeral "8" is written as '८', in earlier centuries, it was denoted by the letter as shown in the FDC.
