Vidyapati, 1965 - Stamp, First Day Cover

Vidyapati, in full Vidyāpati Ṭhākur  (born c. 1352, Bisapi, Madhubani, Bihar province [now in north-central Bihar state, northeastern India]—died 1448, Bisapi), Maithili Brāhman writer and poet, known for his many erudite Sanskrit works and also for his erotic poetry written in the Maithili language. He was the first writer to use Maithili as a literary language. (Courtesy: EB)

A commemorative stamp in the denomination of 15P was issued by the Indian Posts and Telegraphs along with an FDC and a brochure in honour of this great Sanskrit scholar.
