Parliament of India : Golden Jubilee, 2002 - Stamp, First Day Cover and Brochure

To mark the Golden Jubilee of the Indian Parliament, the Department of Posts released a commemorative postage stamp on 13.05.2002 in the denomination of 400P. The stamp design incorporates one of the Sanskrit inscriptions from a dome (near Lift No.2) inside the Parliament, inscriptions that act as beacons to guide parliamentary discussions and debate.........

sabhā vā na praveṣtavyam vaktavyam vā samañjasam /
abruvan vibruvan vāpi naro bhavati kilbiṣī //

 -- Manusṃṛti, 8.13, Nārada-sṃṛti, Vyavahāra, 3.9, Sukra-nīti, 4.5.29

Meaning:

"One must either not enter the Assembly Hall, or once having entered, must speak the truth. A man who either says nothing or speaks falsely, involves himself in sin."

A fantastic transcreation of the above Sanskrit verse is available in Tamil* --

Please ponder over the above thoughts of Manu and others; just imagine what is happening in our Parliament!!!
