My salutations to the USSR Philatelic Department
for their thoughtfulness in releasing a stamp in honour of the Viśva Māhākavi (World Poet) as early as 1956 well before India Post had thought of doing it.
The stamp depicts two books - Kālidāsa's Śākuntalam and another, an Indian lady, palm trees and the Bodh Gayā Temple.
I welcome the picture of the First Day Cover issued for this stamp from viewers and philatelists as I am yet to see one.
