Sri Bhuvanendra College, Karkala, 1985 - Special Cancellation




Affiliated to the Mangalore University, Sri Bhuvanendra College situated in Karkala, Karnataka (India) is an Arts, Science and Commerce College founded in 1960. A special cancellation was provided on 01.02.1985 when the College celebrated its Silver Jubilee.


In the logotype of the College the Sanskrit imprint reads "तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय" (tamaso jyotir gamaya) meaning --"Lead me from darkness to light". This is a mantra from one of the principal Upaniṣads viz., the Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad 1.3.28 which forms part of the Śukla-Yajurveda. रजतजयन्ती (rajata jayantī) is also a Sanskrit word which means Silver Jubilee. Above the lotus, in the logo, there is the mono-syllabic symbol ॐ (aum) representing Brahman, the Supreme Reality, is from the Veda.
