The
Grenadiers are an infantry regiment of the Indian Army, formerly part of the Bombay Army and later the pre-independence Indian Army, when the
regiment was known as the 4th Bombay Grenadiers. It
has distinguished itself during the two world wards and also since the Independence of India. The
regiment has won many battle honours and gallantry awards, with three Param Vir Chakra awardees in three different conflicts. (Courtesy

India Post issued a
commemorative stamp in honour of the 2nd Grenadiers bicentenary
(1796-1996) on 04.12.1996. The motto of
the regimental insignia of the Grenadiers depected on the FDC and the Cancellation is in Sanskrit -- “sarvadā śaktiśālī”
meaning - “Ever Powerful”.
On the FDC the spelling of Grenadiers is mis-spelt.
